| Artist Statement I have been layering and combining unusual and unexpected combinations of color, pattern, texture, technique & fiber since I was a small child- I was born predisposed to possibilities. Working in textiles, primarily wearables, has allowed me a perfect vehicle to lend form to a constant flow of ideas. That these ideas are allowed to live, move & breathe on a human body, to become a personal statement in someone’s life and a part of the landscape that person moves in is a special privilege known only to those who invent wearables, and to me is an absolute joy. |
Double Knit Hats:

Instructor: Anne Carroll Gilmour . $40 class fee
Location: Black Sheep Wool Co.
Produce double layer fabric by working pairs of stitches
with two different colored yarns. This type of knitting is
perfect for extra warm mittens, scarves, hats, and vests, as
well as reversible fabrics for items ranging from pot holders
to afghans. A useful skill to have, double knitting can be
done with one or both hands and is a great way to begin
working with colors. We'll start on a fun hat project to
introduce this fabulous and versatile technique. See shop
samples for inspiration.
Materials: Two different colors of Cascade 220 or any
standard worsted weight yarn (wind any skeins into a ball
prior to class), #8 16-inch circular and double point needles,
stitch markers, blunt needle for sewing up.
